Zero Carbon Moreland has invited Sustainable Fawkner to talk at their monthly pub night for Moreland residents this Thursday. Dave from the Merlynston group is also talking.

The discussion will be about community space and community resilience. If you’re free, come along!

Details are: Thursday 10 November from 6-8pm at the Edinburgh Castle, cnr Albion St and Sydney Rd Brunswick, in the little dining room.

Fawkner Festa - bringing arts and culture to the streets

The annual Fawkner Festival has changed from being a one day event to more low key but varied activities and events spread over 5 days at various locations around Fawkner including the Bonwick Street and Major Road shopping precincts, the Fawkner Library and the new skatepark. Events start on Wednesday 2 November and finish on Sunday 6th November.

Come and meet us at Bonwick Street on Saturday or come along to our presentation of the film Economics of Happiness on Saturday evening.

Saturday November 5 Bonwick street 11am – 2pm

Join Sustainaible Fawkner, Zero Carbon Moreland and many other groups and activities in Bonwick Street shopping precinct on Saturday 5th Novemmber 11am – 2pm.

Includes Circus Spot playground, Kerbside Keve and Madame Russlyn Bagg, The Biscuit Readings, Team Taekwondo, Surprise Installations by the Anti Racism Action Band (A.R.A.B.), FREE Face Painting, Bicycle Decorating Workshop, Chalk Art, Keeping the Beat inclusive percussion session, and music from Moreland City Band.

Bring along spare fruit and veggies from your garden to share at the Sustainable Fawkner food swap, sustainable mini market and gardening activities.

The Economics of Happiness

Wildflower Wander

When: Saturday 5 November 10 am – 1 pm
Location: Bababi Djinanang (Jukes Road Grassland Reserve), eastern end of Jukes Road, Merri Creek Parklands (Melway ref: 18 A2)
Free sausage sizzle and guided walks through the Wildflower Grassland. The ‘Volcano Dreaming’, a spectacular environmental panorama combining 3000 photos of grassland flora and fauna will be on display.

Read More event – 12 May Fawkner Library

Come along to the Read More Event at Fawkner Library and hear:

  • a short talk on the bio-diversity of the area,
  • about the Fawkner food swap.
  • An opportunity to collect stories that may be useful for film project.
  • Discuss other local issues regarding sustainability
  • Find resources on reducing energy use, climate change and the local environment through Fawkner Library

Brotherhood Green and Moreland Energy Foundation Ltd will be attending with stalls.
